Murder Squad detectives are winding down the investigation after admitting they’ve drawn a blank. 9 months after Lindsay’s body was found, the incident room is being closed and the number of officers working on the enquiry is to be reduced to a handful.

An inquest into Lindsay’s death was opened at Halifax Town Hall. Coroner Mr James Turnbull adjourned the inquest and released Lindsay’s body for her burial.

The funeral of Lindsay took place on what should have been her 15th birthday. The funeral was held in Hebden Bridge Parish Church and followed by a private burial at Blackshaw Head. Police stopped traffic as two grey Shire horses pulled the wagon containing Lindsay.

West Yorkshire Police states that a new DNA profile had been identified. Detective Superintendent Simon Atkinson said “Our Canadian colleagues are doing some ground-breaking forensic work, so we’ve sent some of the forensic exhibits over to them. They have been able to develop a DNA profile which we are really interested in developing further. It’s a leap forward we haven’t had in the past 21 years”
